No food since Thursday night, and before you start accusing me of starving myself to fit into a smaller size, know that fasting is backed by science. Been there done that on the starving thing (many times when I was younger). Obviously there’s some visual results, but the difference between fasting for health vs starving myself for a number on a scale, is that my goal with this is optimal health. How? Ive had incredible changes in my digestive health, food habits (eating because I’m bored), and insulin sensitivity. Fasting with ketones keeps muscle from breaking down, helps you fast longer while still being able to function (even have the energy to workout), and get into a higher state of nutritional ketosis faster. What has my weight changed to? Don’t know. Because I honestly don’t care (scales are a horrible measure of success y’all, throw them out). After I start eating again my weight would fluctuate anyway because I’ll be adding energy in once again. BUT. My relationship with food changes for the better every time I reset my body. As a friend of mine so eloquently put it, we reset/restart our computers/phones/electronics when they start to run slow/get a virus/stop functioning at peek performance, so why on EARTH should our bodies be any different? (Paraphrased from Mitch Newman). This resets your metabolism, rests your digestive system, repairs DNA, changes your eating habits, detoxes, and all around RESTARTS your body. This is important because our bodies NEED a total reboot when things stop working properly.
