2 ♡ 1 ✍ April 18 THE ADDICTION OF MINISTRY Pursuing ministry opportunity and following Jesus Christ are NOT the same thing. An addiction to applause, platforms, microphones, and ministry connections and networking is as addicting as crack cocaine. The pursuit of "ministry" is the premier cover up of a dysfunctional marriage, family, and personal life. The pursuit of "ministry" allows many to hide their junk because they measure their success in God based on the open doors they have been given and not on their character and integrity or even if their own family loves and appreciates them. God is way more interested in changing us on the inside (character) than using us on the outside (ministry). Our agreement with this statement can only be found in whether we value the prayer room more than a platform. If we are day dreaming of speaking before the masses instead of standing on the sea of glass and gazing at the beauty of Jesus, our priorities are skewed and we are more than likely consumed with an addiction to ministry. Jeremiah Johnson has this to say "How I wish I was taught about character, prayer, fasting, having a devotional life, and developing a healthy family life while I earned a 4 year bible degree! Instead I was instructed on how to network, market, build a ministry platform, and create a culturally relevant church" It's time for a generation of ministers and future ministers to actually have character that matches the anointing upon their lives. This fruit can only be forged in the fires of prayer and devotion. I don't believe God is interested in who we know and what doors we walk through. He wants to know if we are praying, fasting, blessing our enemies, giving to the poor, and loving our spouses and children. (The stuff that doesn't sell books and make good facebook live videos).
